Justin Jefferson had another standout game in the Vikings’ last-minute victory over the Giants, recording 12 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown.
In doing so, he broke the franchise record for receiving yards in a season previously held by Randy Moss. This is an extraordinary accomplishment for Jefferson, who is only in his third season as a professional, and he may have more records in his future.
Currently, Jefferson has 1,756 receiving yards this season, just 208 yards shy of Calvin Johnson’s all-time single-season NFL record.
While it is not guaranteed that he will surpass this mark, if he maintains his current league-leading average of 117 yards per game in the final two games of the season, he will easily achieve it.
Both of the Vikings’ final opponents, NFC North rivals, are aware of the difficulty of trying to contain Jefferson’s impressive skills.
It is noteworthy that the Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver, Justin Jefferson, has had impressive performances against the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears this season.
In fact, those games do not even rank among his top two performances of the year.
Despite the Vikings’ need for late game heroics to defeat inferior opponents, Jefferson has shown a tendency to take control in crucial moments, which has contributed to the team’s 12 wins.
Opposing teams may welcome the opportunity to face the Vikings in the first round of playoffs, but their defensive backs are likely to be wary of Jefferson’s ability to take over the game.
