The NFL has announced that the Las Vegas Raiders will host the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. ET on January 7th, while the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans will face off at 8:15 p.m. ET on the same day.
The winner of the Titans-Jaguars game will be crowned the AFC South champion and will host a playoff game in the wild-card round.
The Jaguars, who defeated the Titans in Week 14 and improved to 8-8 with a Week 17 victory over the Houston Texans, will be looking to secure their spot in the playoffs.
The Titans, who lost quarterback Ryan Tannehill for the season due to an ankle injury, currently have a record of 7-9 after their sixth consecutive loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.
The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars will face off in a must-win game for the Titans on Saturday. The Jaguars can still make the playoffs even if they lose, but they will need to rely on other results going their way.
If the Jaguars lose to the Titans and the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and Pittsburgh Steelers all lose their games in Week 18, the Jaguars will advance as the AFC’s No. 7 seed.
The Kansas City Chiefs have the opportunity to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC on Saturday if they win their game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, the Buffalo Bills can take the top spot from the Chiefs if they beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. If the Bills lose, a win over the Raiders will be sufficient for the Chiefs to earn a first-round bye in the playoffs.
The Raiders, who are eliminated from playoff contention with a record of 6-10, started Jarrett Stidham at quarterback in their overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday after benching Derek Carr. The NFL will announce the full schedule for Week 18 after Monday Night Football.
