According to sources, the Las Vegas Raiders are expected to consider trading quarterback Derek Carr this offseason.
The decision follows the team’s decision to bench Carr in favor of Jarrett Stidham for the final two games of the current season, which has been disappointing with a record of 6-9.
Carr has thrown four touchdowns and six interceptions in the past three games.
The Raiders will need to make a decision on Carr’s future before the third day of the new league year, as that is when his contract guarantees become due. Carr is set to have a base salary of $32.9 million in 2023, with an additional $7.5 million of his 2024 salary becoming guaranteed on February 15th, according to Spotrac.
If the Las Vegas Raiders decide to trade quarterback Derek Carr, he would have to approve the move due to the full no-trade clause in his contract.
According to sources, Carr has told those close to him that he has no intention of retiring if the Raiders choose to move on from him, despite previously stating that he would likely quit football rather than play for another team.
Carr has been the Raiders’ starting quarterback since being selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and has made three Pro Bowls during his nine-year career. He has a record of 63-79.
