On Saturday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed doubt that free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. would sign with the team for the remainder of the playoffs.

Speaking to reporters after the Cowboys’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, Jones stated that it is “not realistic to think about having him in a meaningful way for the playoffs,” though he did not rule out the possibility of Beckham joining the team in the future.

Jones had previously expressed optimism about Beckham potentially signing with the Cowboys, but later commented on December 20 that the chances of this happening were decreasing.

It has been noted that Beckham has not played since Super Bowl LVI, at which point he sustained a tear to his ACL while representing the Los Angeles Rams.

In anticipation of his return, Beckham has reportedly visited the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and New York Giants. Additionally, it has been suggested that the Kansas City Chiefs have also been in communication with Beckham.

During the 2021 playoffs, Beckham caught 21 passes for a total of 288 yards and scored two touchdowns. As a three-time Pro Bowler, Beckham recorded 27 receptions for 305 yards and scored five touchdowns in eight regular-season games with the Rams during the previous season, following his transfer from the Cleveland Browns.
